About Steve Durkee and Mountainside Properties

Steve Durkee, President of Mountainside Properties, has been a business owner and Killington resident for more than 40 years. After college and graduate school, he returned to the green mountain state and established a land planning, real estate development, and consulting company. In 1976, he built and opened the Killington Market. He went on to open Back Country Cafe with his wife Karen Durkee.

In 1983 the principals of Killington Resort provided an opportunity to develop HighRidge condominiums at the base of the mountain. In addition to helping build this high quality property, Steve constructed custom designed homes for officers of the corporation. In the 1990s, he and Karen developed Mountainside properties, consisting of distinctive custom-design residences.

In addition to real estate development, Steve has designed, permitted, and constructed a number of high regarded golf courses in the state of Vermont. These include Green Mountain National Golf Course, Okemo Valley Golf Course, Neshobe Country Club, Dorset Field Club, Brattleboro Country Club, and Manchester Country Club.

Steve and Karan are pleased to announce their newest development of custom single family homes as part of Mountainside Properties which include the Glades in Killington and SkyeRidge on the Ottauquechee River in Killington.
